San Diego High School Hurdler Sets Section Record In Girls 100mH

“…San Diego High School junior Anisa Bowen-Fontenot got the parade going when she won the 100-meter hurdles in 13.59, snapping the old standard of 13.61 by Scripps Ranch’s Aaliyah McCormick in 2022.

 

Like Williams, she had been chasing a sub-13.60 all season.

“I didn’t know what time I’d run until the announcer said ‘13.59,’” said Bowen-Fontenot. “I’m always behind at the start, but by the third hurdle I was moving up and I took the lead at the sixth hurdle.

“This is the first clean race I’ve run in a long, long time. Today, I had the ‘it’ factor in that I was ready to go…”
