Lincoln Olympian Honored With Her Own Day

“SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Lincoln High School graduate and 1972 Olympian Jackie Thompson is being celebrated with a day named in her honor.
This Saturday, Sept. 7 will be Jackie Thompson Day in recognition of the San Diegan who made the 1972 Olympic track and field team and went on to compete in the summer games in Munich, Germany. She was a Team USA 200-meter semi-finalist…
Thompson, at the age of 18, became the first female Black woman from San Diego to participate in the Summer Olympics, following the footsteps of her coach, Mickey Patterson-Tyler.”
