“It certainly wasn’t pretty, but it was convincing.
Visiting Lincoln High School, ranked No. 1 in the county, rolled over No. 2 Cathedral Catholic 27-7 Friday night in a choppy Western League game that saw 21 penalties called for 190 yards.
Of those 21 penalties, 11 were for 10-15 yards. It wasn’t, however, a dirty or chippy game.
“We’re the No. 1 team in San Diego, and we proved it,” said Lincoln running back Aiden Jackson, who had 88 of Lincoln’s 230 rushing yards, scoring on a 1-yard run. “This was exciting because we hadn’t been playing our best football.”
Many experts predict this will be the first of two games between the Hornets (6-2, 2-0) and Dons (6-2, 1-1), with a second one looming in the Open Division playoffs.
