HOOVER Hall of Famer : Ted Williams Throwback

Throwback Friday: November 1977

Ted Williams, a 1937 graduate from Hoover High School returned to his home town, same field that lead him into professional baseball after graduating. Williams hit over .300 with 23 homeruns in his first year with the Pacific Coast San Diego Padres. Two years later “Teddy Ball Game” would make his Major League debut with the Boston Red Sox. Williams retired in 1960 playing every season in Boston. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1966. Below is a video of Ted’s return to Hoover.
