La Jolla’s Arielle Brotman Is a Winner in the Water
“Over the years, La Jolla High School senior Arielle Brotman has good-naturedly accepted comments connecting her to Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.”
Despite a slight difference in spelling, Brotman shares the same name with the classic character Ariel.
Plus, there’s the love of water that has Brotman on the verge of a career sweep of double wins in the CIF San Diego Section girls swimming championships.
“People have brought up, ‘Your name is perfect and very fitting,”’ Brotman said. “I feel my mom did a great job with my name. She predicted my life, basically.”
